Every stylist at J. Joseph Salon earns their level through education, certification and demand. The level tells you two things at a glance: how much experience sits behind the chair, and what your service will cost.
All ten levels share the same Principle-Based Design training, so the difference is depth, speed and artistry, not quality of care.

Apprentice to Level 2
Every stylist here trains in the same system. At this tier you get it at the lowest rates on our menu, from stylists who are still building their books and have the time to give you.

Stylist level questions
Every service is priced by level. The rates on our Services page are Foundation Stylist rates, each level up adds to them, and you see the exact price for your stylist when you book.
Which level should I choose?
For a classic cut, blowout or single-process color, any level delivers. For balayage, corrective color, curly cuts or a big change, an Established or Director level stylist brings more hours of specialty training. If you are unsure, we will match you at a consultation.
Why do prices change by level?
Each level reflects certified education completed, years behind the chair and guest demand. Higher levels are booked further out and command a higher rate for the same service.
What is a Foundation Stylist?
A stylist who has completed our Apprenticeship Program. New to JJS, not new to hair. Their rates are the starting prices you see across the site.
Can I book an Apprentice?
Yes. Apprentices take model appointments at reduced rates while they train, always under the supervision of our educators. Ask the front desk about availability.
Can I switch stylists or levels?
Any time. Our team works as one salon, so moving between stylists is welcome and never awkward. Your notes and formulas travel with you.
Is a consultation free?
Yes. Consultations are complimentary and give you an exact price for your service before you book.
